Departures for excursions to Etna are made from Taormina, Letojanni, Giardini Naxos and the neighboring towns (further destinations to be agreed). Around 8:30/9:00 in the morning our AIGAE certified guide will come to pick you up comfortably in your accommodation. The journey on board our vehicles (jeep or mini van), to arrive on the north-eastern side of Etna, lasts about 45 minutes and sees us crossing two Etna villages: Piedimonte and Linguaglossa , located at the foot of the volcano. Once we have crossed the last Etna village, we will take the sea snow state road which will lead us to a mountain chalet (Chalet Clan dei Ragazzi), here we will have time to sip a coffee and, for those without, we will rent the very useful trekking shoes for free. How not to start this adventure on Etna from the infamous 2002 eruption which destroyed Piano Provenzana and its ski resorts and part of the Pineta Ragabo. From here we will continue and crossing the undergrowth unique landscapes will open up to our eyes: breathtaking places, lava flows, pines and birches will make our way towards the peaks of the lateral craters. An experience that cannot be described but only lived! Through little-used and particular paths we will reach the peaks of the famous bottoniera dei lateral craters, this is one of the most panoramic points and therefore the best place to take beautiful souvenir photos. Going down, the last stop on Etna but equally noteworthy is the Grotta Dei Ladroni: a lava flow tunnel into which we will enter equipped with helmets and torches to discover its history. Used in ancient times as a “niviera”, it has always aroused great curiosity and interest for those who want to fully experience this part of Etna.
